How To Clean a Wheel Simulator

For many people, a car is more than just a means of transportation. It can also be one of their most cherished purchases and investments, and for plenty of automobile enthusiasts, adorning their car with protective gadgets such as a designer wheel pedal, wheel racer, wheel clutch, or wheel controller is a great thrill. One of the most useful of these items is the wheel simulator, which is placed over the hubcap. This serves to both protect the hubcap from dirt and damage, and also adds a sleek and polished look to your car. As with the rest of the car, however, you need to clean and maintain it every now and then. Here's how to do this.

  1. Brush away surface dirt. Because the wheel simulator is in close contact with the ground, it is prone to dirt and grime. To effectively clean this, begin with a brush to remove the surface dirt that builds up on the wheel simulator. After brushing away the dirt, use a soft piece of cloth to scrape away stubborn dirt, especially those that are caused by mud that has dried up on the surface.
  2. Wash with soap. To bring the wheel simulator back to its shining glory, use a gentle combination of soap and water to remove the last traces of the dirt. Also, there are some reviews and nooks in the surface of the wheel simulator, which are very difficult to clean even with the finest brushes. To remove the dirt in these areas, soap down the surface and allow the water to settle for a few minutes. This will soften the dirt and make it easier to clean. Be sure not to use harsh detergents and cleaning agents such as bleach, which can react with the metal surface and cause stains and discoloration.
  3. Use sealants. Stainless steel wheel simulators will only need soap and water and a good pat down with a towel. If you are using chrome wheel simulators, however, it is best to use sealants after the washing. Chrome plating creates a thin and delicate surface that can easily be scratched and which is more prone to damage from constant exposure to the sun and dirt. To strengthen the chrome plating, buy specially designed chrome sealants, which you will wipe or spray over the wheel simulator. It will not only protect the chrome, but it can also bring back the original luster that ill-maintained chrome surfaces eventually lose. Without sealants, you may need to have the chrome reapplied on the wheel simulator after some time, which is much more expensive.
  4. Set a schedule. The best way to maintain your wheel simulators is through proper care and a regular maintenance schedule. When the dirt and grime are left on the wheel simulators for too long, it can turn into rust, which will damage the actual surface of the wheel simulator. At least twice a year, try to remove the wheel simulator and clean it by itself, which will allow you to focus on the detailed cleaning of the item. The back part of the wheel simulator is also prone to dirt after long periods of time, and should also be cleaned.

With these easy steps, riding through town in style and with shiny wheel simulators can easily be done. Coupled with safe driving to ensure that your wheels are protected from scratches, you can make your wheel simulators look new and fresh from the wheel casino for a very long time.
