Leadership is not just about managing an institution and people. Leadership is hope, unbeatable hope against all odds. The whole world says impossible, leadership says "I am possible." Secondly, there is a significant difference between leaders and managers.

  1. Leaders possess charisma. Though it is difficult to clearly trace out the point where leaders and managers differ, leadership is rather a charismatic component which some people have while others do not. Leadership is real result, sure of achieving a target goal. Leadership is indeed a rare but admirable competency. To put in simple terms, management is just a career, they try to mimic leadership but are comparatively doubtful if a target will work or not, but leadership is a quality and a valuable asset of an individual that enhances the growth of the organization and people under him/her, besides contributing to his/her personal growth.
  2. Leadership drives and drives until it sees result the real required result. They never accept that any work cannot be done. Management is something that is bestowed by the organization, but leadership is what an individual proves of himself/herself and evolves in him/her by virtue of his/her competencies.
  3. The essential qualities of a leader are clearly defined convictions and the courage to see his/her convictions evolve into reality. It is highly important for a leader to understand his/her role as a guide and companion to the people in his/her organization. Supreme optimism, die-hard attitude and cosmic work ethics form the cornerstone of leadership.
  4. Leadership works with the energy of the soul even when physical health is down. Leadership sees every happening as solid facts and not has good and bad. Leadership is shock proof. They are ready to accept the unexpected that any normal person would not. Leadership can discriminate situational envisioning with a solid answer to why? You may see a thing as good and I may see the same thing as bad, but leadership sees it with diplomatic eyes. Leadership works outside the circle and produces the appropriate judgment.
  5. Building credibility and trust is an essential component of leadership. A successful leader must be able to persuade his/her people towards the belief that he/she is working for a greater good in furthering the higher interests of the people and the organization. He/She should be a person not the one whom they must follow, but the one whom they want to follow. Further, in every successful leader, the qualities noted above must be combined with productivity, quality, innovation, and achievements. Every successful and accomplished leader is a combination of productive managerial skills and proven leadership qualities.
