Fuel prices have gotten a little bit better, but not much. People are starting to feel a little relief at the gas pumps, but there is still that lingering tax always snickering behind our backs. Do not get all fuel happy though, now that we are finally feeling some relief, the absolute worst thing that we could possibly do, would be increase the demand for fuel nationwide. Even if we are not making progress forward every minute with making fuel prices cheaper nationwide, we cannot ever move backwards. As a nation we need to remember the basic law of economics, which is more demand equals less supply, which equals higher taxes. If this principal is always kept in mind, society will stop wondering how to keep fuel prices low and instead reap the benefits of demanding less fuel entirely.
One of the best ways for us to keep fuel prices low nationwide, is for everyone to plan out their days more thoroughly. Plan out routine trips more, plan for only one or two trips a week, and try to condense all errands into one drive. If the nation as a whole could limit itself to 4 trips only each month, this alone would save thousands in fuel costs. People do a lot of pointless driving. The less time everyone spends inside their vehicles, the less demand there is for fuel and the cheaper it will be.
Another great way to save fuel is to take a nice refreshing walk or ride an old bike from the garage to your destination if it is close by. This is a great fuel saving method for pedestrians who live very close to work or school. This is a simple yet effective way of keeping fuel prices low nationwide and also a way of staying healthy and in shape while doing it. Get a friend to participate with you, as there is no better way to start your day off than to chatter with a friend while jogging to the office. Another way to effectively keep fuel prices low is to carpool. Carpooling is an opportunity in disguise. People look at carpooling as a hassle, but it is very lenient on fuel. Some larger cities even have HOV lanes dedicated to large highway travel. Ask around, maybe you have co-workers on your route.
If you do not currently own a motorcycle and have never thought about getting one, now might be the prime time for you to consider it. If you do currently own a motorcycle, take advantage of the fact now! It is much cheaper to fill a motorcycle tank than it is to fill an automobile tank. Fuel also lasts a lot longer in a motorcycle than it does in a gas guzzling four door. There are some motorcycles than can get up to as much as 50 mph. It will be summertime again before you know it, perfect weather for showing off that new Harley.
The more we stockpile fuel up and save it, the cheaper it will become. Look for every opportunity to save fuel and money, there are plenty!
The last method of keeping fuel prices low that I am going to mention is keeping your car in tip top condition. Keep new tires on your vehicle and keeping the tires at the proper PSI for your vehicle's weight is very fuel effective. Getting regular oil changes and tune ups will also ensure that your vehicle is getting the most out of the fuel it intakes. You do not want to be putting fuel into a vehicle that is wasting it, that is the bottom line.
