Brosix is an instant messaging service that offers both free and fee-based services. Brosix utilizes encryption in order to provide protection and security for all its users. In this article, we will discuss how to use Brosix Secure IM Service.
- Determine what Brosix service you want to avail of. The free service is called Brosix Personal and the fee-based service is called Brosix Enterprise. All Brosix users can avail of text messaging, offline text messaging, chat history, voice chat, video chat, file transfer, co-browsing, whiteboard, screenshot, automatic update, and user status. If you will subscribe with Brosix Enterprise, you can also avail of services such as networks, user activity log, contact lists management, features control, free technical support and welcome module. You can start by availing of the Brosix Personal service, or by taking advantage of the 30 day free trial of Brosix Enterprise.
- Download the Brosix application on your computer. Access www.brosix.com/download. The download available in this page is for Brosix Personal, so simply click on the ‘Brosix Enterprise' link on the left-hand portion of the screen if that's what you want to download. Choose the installer that is compatible with your operating system (Windows, Mac or Linux). Save the installer on your computer and then run it. Follow the procedure outlined by the wizard to complete the installation.
- Create and sign in to your Brosix account. After the installation, open Brosix instant messenger on your computer. Go to ‘File' and click on ‘Sign In'. Enter your user name and password if you already have one for Brosix. If you don't have one yet, click on ‘New Account' and enter the required information.
- Add people to your Brosix contact list. Once you are logged in, go to ‘Contacts' and then click on ‘Add a contact'. Enter your contact's Brosix user name, first name, last name, and then click on ‘Add'. You will need to wait for that contact to confirm your request before he gets added to your contact list.
- Send instant messages to your contacts on Brosix. Click on a name in your contact list and go to ‘Actions' then select ‘Text Chat', or click on the blue speech bubble on the screen, or double click on the contact's name and type in your message in the text box. If your contact is currently offline, he will receive your message once he logs in to Brosix. To invite other people in the current text chat session, simply click on the speech bubble icon with two stick figures and select another contact.
- Engage in voice and video chat with your Brosix contacts. Select a contact from your online list and then click on the ‘Audio and Video Talk' icon on the righ-hand side of the screen. Click on ‘Start Voice' or ‘Start Video' and wait for your contact to respond.
Brosix still has other nifty features such as ‘File Transfer', ‘Co-Browse', ‘Whiteboard' and ‘Screenshots'. These tools will appear when you click on a name in your contact list, or once you are already engaged in a text chat session with your contact. Simply click on the icon of the feature that you want to use and you're all set. Visit http://www.brosix.com/features/ for more details on these features.
