How To Get Fired From Your Job

OK, so this really isn't an instruction manual for getting fired from your job. I'd rather you didn't get fired, in all honesty. The more people that take this kind of advice to heart, the more people are unemployed. The next thing you know, the economy is really in the tank, and who's to blame? Me. No, thank you.

Rather, this is a list of things that I would avoid doing, if you want to keep your steady paycheck, and in turn, your tummy full and your feet warm.

How To Shed the "Techie" Stereotype

I work in technology. Have for quite some time, and will for the foreseeable future. It wasn't that long ago that when someone asked me what I did for work, and I told them, they would almost immediately jump to the conclusion that I loved role-playing games, lived on energy drinks and candy bars, and wouldn't talk to anyone other than fellow egg-heads.

While the first couple of things I mentioned won't have much impact on your career, the last one will. Gone are the days of technology professionals being locked away from the rest of the company to focus on one task. Soon, as business needs continue to change, so will organizational structures, forcing tech pros to work dead smack in the middle of cross-functional teams - working with marketers, sales professionals, product managers, and so on.

How To Discover if You Are an Inventor

Say “inventor” and most people may conjure up an image of a mad scientist, locked away in his laboratory, cackling over his latest discovery as arcs of electricity fly through the air and a storm rages outside.

It is a sad and unfortunate fact that invention isn't quite that exciting. However, as both a career and a lifestyle, the path of an inventor can still be richly rewarding and fun. (Invention and innovation go hand-in-hand; most often the title is interchangeable.)

The following list will help you determine if you feel that invention is right for you.

Are you a problem solver? Most people are problem solvers, as life presents us with a never-ending stream of challenges and problems. The real question here is whether you enjoy it or not, if you seek out greater problems and practical challenges.

How To Get Online IT Training

Nothing beats the ease of getting training online. And a great area to study online is Information Technology. The ability to see a technique in action certainly beats watching a professor write out code on a blackboard. It also gives you the ability to get the amount of training you need - ranging from one question you have that is keeping you from finishing your project to starting from square one in an IT education. Whatever your needs are, there is an online IT educational solution for you. Consider these steps when determining what kind of training is right for you.

How To Get Microsoft IT Training

Anything Microsoft has been a hot IT skill for many years now - and will continue to be for some time. Because Microsoft is constantly renewing and updating their packages, it is hard to stay current with the latest version of certain skills. But there are a few ways to get Microsoft IT training that fits into your schedule, budget, and educational needs.

See if your company offers Microsoft training. Many companies have in-house classes for a broad range of IT training. Some may just be for edification - like learning advanced features of MS Excel - and others may be more esoteric programming languages with a view to training IT staff in new skills. Microsoft IT training is likely to be a real career booster; if you attend these classes, HR is likely to see if you are interested when better jobs come up in the company for new MS IT skills.

How To Recognize the Best IT Jobs

The IT job market is ripe with opportunities right now. If you are looking for employment in information technology, you have many options to consider. Follow these steps and you'll find the best IT job for you.

Consider if you want to work for a large company or a small shop. A large company will likely have a better benefits package - possibly even including discounts, a gym membership, etc. - but a small technology shop will have a more tight-knit sense of community. If you have a strong preference for a close group of workmates, or you'd prefer to keep to yourself at work, this could make a big difference in the kind of job you take.

Finance, healthcare, high technology, entertainment - you name it, there are IT jobs in the field. And there are an ever-growing number of IT jobs once you have your first job.
How To Operate a Dozer

A dozer is an incredibly heavy and powerful piece of machinery. Dozers have tracks, which help distribute their weight so that they don't stink into muddy ground, and also give them excellent traction. Dozers are frequently used to clear areas of debris, move earth, carve roads, level ground, and move timber. In other words, dozers tend to be used in situations that are inherently dangerous. The most important thing when it comes to how to operate a dozer is safety first: It is often through inadvertent application of a dozer's powerful force that accidents happen.

Always operate the dozer with the protective cage on.

Operate at moderate speed so that you can stop quickly if necessary.
