How Census Data is Collected

The Office of National Statistics is in charge of collecting a lot of data, and one of them is the collection of the census population. 1. Area designation. Since the Office of National Statistics deals with a large area, each city of each state has a branch of the office that collates data per area. Division per city can still be divided into specific districts, and people in these areas will report the statistical data to be collected and summarized as the city census. Each city census will be collected and will then be reported as the state census. This, in turn, will be collected to become the national census report.
2. Data involved. Census questionnaires involve the number of people living in the household, employment, income received, culture and other information that the main office has instructed the personnel to gather from their districts. Only trained census personnel can gather data because they are the ones who know what kind of data they are looking for and their significance. Since this is quite personal information that is gathered about people, the personnel who gather and collate the information are well-trained not to release any individual information no matter what. Census information also has a historical significance, because it can be used by historians to trace a certain family lineage. But historians cannot grab information any time they please, because census data have to be one hundred years old before they can be opened for historians to use.
