Astronauts not only explore the galaxy, they also assist in developing new technology and ground breaking experiments to further enhance the education of other "worlds," dimensions and resources outside of Earth.  Here is an important guide on how to become an astronaut:

  1. Began Preparing Early. It takes more than a fascination with outer space to become an astronaut. You must prepare yourself at a very young age. Learn the basics while in school and excel at science and math. Both are needed to become an astronaut.  Read as much literature and books as possible about astronauts and the particular field you want to work in.
  2. Learn to Work with Others. To become an astronaut, you have to be a team player, as most are put into groups to achieve goals. You can improve your team working skills by simply brushing up on your communication and social status. Join leadership clubs and different groups that involve being a team player. Sports may also assist with this.  You will need to learn how to work with different races and people on a regular basis in order to become an astronaut.
  3. Make Education First. College is almost always needed to become an astronaut.  To get into college, you must do well in high school as well. If you did not do well in high school, then you could go to a community college for a year or two and attain a really high GPA. Then transfer your records over to a well known university in your area. Study hard for the ACT or SAT if you want to head straight to a university after high school. Pick a course that is related to becoming an astronaut such as engineering, mathematics, physical science and or biological science. All are good for brushing up on needed skills when becoming an astronaut.
  4. Apply. Once you are finished will college, you will then need to apply for astronaut positions. This can be achieved by filling out the standard form 171. This is a government application form.  You will then need to send it to the government employment office (Selection Office, NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, TX 77058.)
  5. Get Prepared to Be Interviewed. Another screening process in when you want to become an astronaut, is to pass the interviewing process. Make sure to practice before this interview comes up. These are the most important steps to becoming an astronaut.
