Being a member of a bar association can open a lot of opportunities for attorneys. From further studies to perfect jobs, everyone is given all the support that he needs. This is mainly the reason for the founding of different associations as well as the urge of lawyers to belong in this group.

Depending on the state, bar associations have different roles for lawyers. In fact, in some states, before a lawyer can practice his profession, he needs to be a member of the state bar association first. However, it is not actually easy to be a member of this prestigious group of professionals. There are certain rules and procedures that need to be followed for membership.

Procedures for Membership

There are different kinds of lawyer associations. Depending on the nature of the organization, the bar admission procedures are determined. In most countries, however, before a person can be enrolled in a bar association, he needs to have successfully finished a law degree in one recognized university. After passing the bar exams, he can be enrolled in a bar association, given that he has submitted all requirements needed and paid the bar fees as well.

All of the lawyers who have been given bar admission need to follow certain rules so as to continuously act as a member of the organization. If the rules are not performed accordingly, the court or the association itself can end one’s membership.
