If your are sure about obtaining credentials, follow these tips to get your business analyst certification. 

  1. Be sure to have at least five years or 7,500 hours of pertinent experience in the field of business analysis. This will hone skills which are required for the work ahead.
  2. Though not mandated, your educational background should include a degree in business or management statistics. A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement for the certification.
  3. Be able to provide proof of at least 21 hours of pertinent professional development within the past four years.
  4. Obtain two references from a career manager, a client, or a CBAP qualification holder, verifying that your are suitable for the certification.
  5. Complete the CBAP application. This may be done manually or online. Applicants are encouraged to utilize the online version to save time, resources and to provide a convenient method of payment. Submit the completed application along with the application fee and references.
  6. Once the application has been approved, candidates must take the written exam within one year of the date of approval. If not approved, you may resubmit your application three months later, and your fees will be refunded.
  7. Approved applicants must be able to write and pass a comprehensive examination. Online and manual versions of the exam are available. Applicants who do not pass the exam are allowed to retake it once within a one year period from the date of the application approval.
