Learn how to use feng shui in the office, a method of achieving harmony and acquiring energy through the placement of objects or layout of a room.
While there are feng shui schools that teach the art of feng shui placement, it isn't necessary to have any feng shui training in order to arrange an office for more positive energy. Feng shui can be employed in any office from a home office to a cubicle in order to increase harmony, reduce stress and increase the amount of energy and calm you have while on the job. The basic principles of feng shui are based on traditional Chinese methods of achieving balance and harmony. These basic feng shui tips for the office can be used to balance your work life for a better sense of calm.
Step 1:

Apply the basic principles of feng shui interior design to your office. Purify the air in your office by keeping plants around the room or cubicle. If you have a large office, choose larger plants to avoid the clutter of many smaller plants. If possible, increase the amount of natural light that your office receives. You can do this by installing sheer curtains that make it possible to see by natural light instead of artificial light.

Step 2:

Make sure that your feng shui office layout includes a desk that keeps your back away from the door. This is a feng shui tip that is non-negotiable in the feng shui world. The best feng shui office layout is to have your desk arranged so that you face the door or the opening to the cubicle while working. The second-best feng shui arrangement is to face a wall. If you do have to face a wall, deck the wall with harmonious pictures of nature or with calming artwork. If there are two desks in the office, each can be placed diagonally across the back two corners to allow both to partially face the door.

Step 3:

Keep your office free from extraneous clutter. File your papers, get rid of novelty items and throw away all trash promptly. Keeping extra clutter in the office will drain your energy and keep you form being able to think clearly.

Step 4:

Create an easy flow through the office. If there is a partial wall or partition that faces you as you walk into the office, place a mirror on it to lessen the blockage of energy that it provides. Position furniture so that it doesn't impede your movement through the office in order to keep your energy and creativity flowing.

Step 5:

Use the walls for enjoyable pictures and artwork that will enrich your workday. Take down the memos and reminders and keep the walls full of calming, cute or energizing pictures. This adds personality to the room without adding clutter.

Step 6:

If your office is located in your home, try to apply feng shui to the home office by trying to keep it separate from the rest of the home. This means using a different entrance if possible and locating the home office far from the bedroom. This will keep the balance between home life and work life strong.
