In today's current economic situation, finding a job isn't always easy, and it can also be time-consuming and not very cost effective for people on a budget. With gas prices rising, more people are conserving on fuel, so using hard-earned money and resources to drive around applying for jobs isn't always the best strategy. Luckily, there are online job boards that let you quickly and easily search and apply for a number of jobs in your area, without ever leaving the comfort of your own home or office.
Yahoo! HotJobs is a great place to start your search online, with jobs in a variety of easy-to-search categories. From HotJobs.com, you can create a free account if you don't already have a Yahoo! email account by clicking on the Sign Up button on the top right corner of the screen, or log in to your already existing account. From there, you can use the Search Now button on the homepage to search by keyword, job category, city and state, or a combination of all three. If you're confident that Hot Jobs is a site that can provide results for you, then upload your resume by selecting the My Resumes tab at the top of the homepage. If you don't have a current resume, Hot Jobs also features a resume builder that lets you create a resume in an easy-to-understand, uncomplicated format. Once your resume is created or uploaded, you can also make it searchable by all employers, or choose to keep it private, showing it only to those potential employers with whom you apply.
Once you have searched the Hot Jobs database and found a job you're interested in applying for, use the yellow Click to apply button to be directed to the employer's website for application, or in some cases, to have your resume automatically sent to the employer from Hot Jobs on your behalf. You can also choose to save the job to your profile for future reference, or even email it to other people you think might be interested in it. You can choose to see similar jobs available like the one you just applied for, or use the Career Tools tab for information about topics such as interviews, networking, resumes, cover letters, and more.
Combine the search engine, career tools and resume builder to get the most out of your Hot Jobs experience and find the perfect job for you and your skills.
