If you aren't new to the Internet, then you probably already have an idea of what torrents are and what they are for. Simply put a torrent is a file a user downloads from a website and opens up with another torrent-oriented program to obtain what they are looking for. There are a few more steps in the process so I will go over the entire outline of how you should download a torrent.

The first step in downloading a torrent is finding software that runs torrents.  You can do this by simply searching in a search engine for "torrent software", and you're sure to find many, or you can go to the tried and true program: uTorrent.  This program is one of the most basic and user friendly torrent downloaders on the Internet and it is completely free. All you do is download the file, do the quick install, and leave it running and minimized. This whole process, allowing for Internet speeds, should take five minutes tops. Your next step is to find your torrent providing website.

So now that you have your torrent software you are ready to download a torrent! First you have to have an idea in your mind of what exactly you want out of a torrent (book, CD, movie, etc).  Now you can do one of two things: You can find a torrent providing website or you can go straight to the best. The best torrent provider, in this case, is a website called The Pirate Bay. Now you should be looking at a fairly minimal screen reminiscent of a search engine. That is pretty much what this is: a torrent search engine for you to find your torrent downloads. Now find your torrent!

You are about ready to begin the process of downloading your torrent. What you want to do at this point is type in the search bar what you are looking for. If it's a specific artist, then type his or her name. If it isn't specific, then just search based on a keyword like "anime" or "television series". So let's assume you want to download the torrent for the new Kanye West record. You would type in "Kanye West." This should bring up a list, very similar to a search engine, of torrents that are currently live. Pick the one you want and click "download torrent".  Instead of clicking "save as..." click "Open With" and choose your torrent software. Your software will pop up and offer to begin downloading your torrent. Click "OK".

Congratulations you've just begun downloading your first torrent! When the file is done downloading it'll appear s "complete" in your list of downloading torrents. Just double click on it when it is done and it'll take you to whatever you downloaded. Now reap the benefits of your hard work and enjoy your download!
