Personal Google Page, now known as iGoogle, is a service offered by Google to its registered users. With iGoogle, you can modify your Google start page and add gadgets to it and make it truly your personal Google page. One example of these gadgets that you can is an Atom Feed.
Installing Atom Feed on your iGoogle prove is beneficial. The feeds allow you to see the recent updates posted on a specific website without you having to manually navigate to the site. The following will provide detailed steps on how to accomplish this task.
- Find the content you want to be updated on. The content could be from any website you desire. Simply take note of the website address and then proceed to the next step.
- Log on to your Google account. You need to be a registered Google user before you are able to use iGoogle. Here are the steps on how to log on to your Google account.
- Pull up a Web browser and navigate to google.com.
- On the upper-right hand corner of the startup page, hit the "Sign in" link.
- Enter your registered username and password and hit the "Sign in" button.
Another way to get a Google account is by doing the following steps.
- On the log on page, look for "Don't have a Google Account?", and hit the link below it that says "Create an account now" to be redirected to the Create an Account page.
- Enter all the necessary information required to sign up for an account.
Google will require you to validate your account, make sure that you do so. Otherwise, the account creation will not go through. Once you've completed the validation, log in and proceed to the next step.
- Navigate to iGoogle. If you still have not set iGoogle as Google's start page, you can easily navigate to iGoogle by doing the following steps.
- Navigate to google.com.
- On the upper-right hand corner beside your Google mail address, hit the link to "iGoogle" and you will be redirected to iGoogle.
Alternatively, you can straight away type google.com/ig on your browser's address bar.
- Go to the Gadgets and Themes page. The gadgets and themes page is where you add items to your iGoogle page. To be redirected to this page, simply hit the "Add news, games, and more to this page" link, which you will see at the bottommost part of the page.
- Add the feed. On the right hand corner, you will see the link to "Add feed or gadget". Hit this link and a box will populate your screen. Simply type in the URL address of the website you want to keep updated on and hit "Add".
Once you have this step, go back to iGoogle page and you will now see the feed of that specific website showing up on your personal Google page.
