MSN TV or WEB TV uses an Internet terminal or a set-top box that is hook on a television set. With a keyboard or a remote control, you can visit websites, create basic websites, send and receive emails, join and create email groups, join chartrooms, shop, send instant messages, and play games, you can do this all without a computer. - Send instant messages to your online friends. Communicate real time through this feature of MSN TV. One great benefit of online chatting is you can get your messages across faster than email messaging. You can also send instant messages to other computer users who are using the MSN Messenger service.
- Turn your MSN TV unit and your television set on. Go to MSN TV Home page, and choose Messenger; it is located on the top left of the screen. You need a Microsoft .Net passport so you can access Messenger. Click settings from MSN’s homepage, then click Microsoft Passport, then follow instructions. Also, accept the Terms of Use in using MSN Messenger.
- Accept any available updates. If your Internet terminal is outdated, updates will automatically appear as you click Messenger. Accept updates so you can comfortably use Messenger.
- Choose Messenger on your homepage. Your Buddy list must appear as your homepage is displayed on your screen. You can send instant messages to the people who are in your Buddy list. If you’re new in MSN Messenger, then add and invite friends to become your contact. Select Contact at your screen’s bottom. Type the email addresses of your friends who you want to become contacts with. Click Continue. The people who accepted your invitation will be viewed on your Buddy list if they are online. You can’t view your friends until they accept your invitation.
- Message online friends. Write your message in the box that can be found at your screen’s bottom. Click Send. Your message will appear in the screen of your recipient. You will also view the corresponding messages of your online buddies in your screen. Every new message will be on top of the latest message. Click End in the right hand column of your chatbox if you already want to end the conversation.
- Add buddies in your email address book. Click Options. Choose Messenger, then Click Edit Addresses at your screen’s bottom. Your email address book must appear. Click Add in the left column of your email address book then click the email address or the name of the person that you want to add as buddy. The settings page of the Instant Message will appear if the person you added has a Messenger account. If the person has an account, then select his name. Click Continue.
- Invite your friends to join Messenger. There are kinds of instant messaging services on the Internet. Tell your friends that you have registered in Messenger. Invite them to join Messenger so you can keep on communicating even you are far from one another.
