These days, people take their laptop computers everywhere – from work to home to the coffee shop down the street. Along the way, the laptop screens pick up dust and particles. Whether your screen has picked up some sticky substance or just gotten dusty, you can follow these steps to have a clean laptop screen.
Materials:
Clean water
Isopropyl alcohol
Spray bottle
Lint-free cloth
- Shut down and unplug the laptop. To be on the safe side, you want the computer to be off and unplugged before cleaning the screen.
- Inspect the screen. The LCD laptop screen can pick up dust, debris and oils from fingerprints. Before you clean, inspect the screen closely to determine any areas that need extra care and any scratches you will want to avoid.
- Mix the cleaning solution. Mix the water and alcohol together into a small spray bottle. The mix should be half water, half alcohol.
- Spray the cleaning solution onto the cloth. Do not spray the mix onto the screen directly. Instead, wet a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Lightly rub the screen surface. Don’t press hard. Lightly rub the screen with the cloth to remove any dust or other particles. Try to use a consistent, circular motion as you wipe the screen. This motion should help you avoid streaks.
- Allow the screen to air dry. The alcohol and water mix will evaporate quickly so the screen should dry in just a few moments.
Keeping your laptop screen clean is essential. Prolong the life of your screen by keeping it free from dust and fingerprint oils from your skin. By cleaning your screen once a month, you will have a better viewing area and extend the life of your laptop.
