If you search the web, you will find a lot of software programs available for download. I performed a search and found five interesting 3D software programs. Let's comment on each one of them:
- Anim8tor. Anim8tor is a very simple and light software, with low system requirements, and it is completely free. It is a very capable and useful program. It also has many easy-to-use tutorials online. You can find it at Anim8tor.
- Art of Illusion. Art of Illusion is a more powerful software with many features found only in commercial software. The idea behind it is to provide an easy-to-use interface but with powerful features. You can download it at Art of Illusion.
AutoQ3D. AutoQ3D is an interesting OpenGL-based software, used for 3D modeling. The team at AutoQ3D Project says it is a simple and intelligent way to make 3D designs. You can check this out at AutoQ3D.
Blender. Blender is the most powerful and capable of all. It is comparable to commercial programs such as 3D MAX studio, SoftImageXSI and MAYA 3D. It can perform highly-developed 3D movies and games, and it has support for Python programming language. You can find it for free at Blender.
Google SketchUp. Google SketchUp is a 3D modeler program designed for professionals such as architects and civil engineers, game developers, filmmakers, and related professionals. Sketchup can be used to draw buildings for Google Earth. The software is designed to be more intuitive and easier to use than the other 3D modelers. Download it here.
There are many other 3D software programs available, but these are the most notable. If you search "3D Software," you can find some other options. One thing to keep in mind: 3D animation software is not quite as easy to learn as you might think. But don't give up: All you need is practice!
