We all know that a computer won’t run without an operating system. Its strength and agility depends on how well the operating system works. For Apple users, Snow Leopard is the latest operating system of Macintosh. As the name indicates, the company assures its users that Snow Leopard will be aggressive, sleek, stylish, and will run fast.
To install the Snow Leopard operating system, consider the following steps:
Preparation to Install
Your computer needs to be prepared first prior to installation of the new operating system. It needs to be formatted according to the Snow Leopard specification. This can be done in three very simple steps.
- First is to go to your Disk Utility. Choose the drive where you want to install your Snow Leopard.
- Second is to choose a partition scheme appropriate for the way you will use the disk, this can be done by clicking the “partition” tab then choosing the appropriate buttons to click on.
- The last step is to name your drive “Snow”. You can’t name the drive any other name you want because DMG won’t work.
Installation
Installing the Snow Leopard system is as easy as preparing your favorite coffee. Just follow the simple steps below:
- Into your DVD drive, insert the Snow Leopard
- Open the Snow Leopard DMG File.
- Go to a particular folder by pressing CMD + Shift + G
- Key in W/O Quotes “Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/”
- Accept the License agreement.
- Click “install”.
- Wait for the installation to finish.
Important
Don’t forget to back up your important information before installing Snow Leopard to avoid losing it in case of untoward incidents. Installing other applications alongside Snow Leopard is possible by clicking the options button. Performing a clean install requires that all the contents of the drive you want Snow Leopard be installed on must be erased. After the installation you may re-install all the applications that were erased during Snow Leopard’s installation.
Other Things That you Need
Purchasing the latest Snow Leopard operating system from Macintosh requires other things for you to be able to install and run it on your computer. Make sure that your motherboard has a gigabyte RAM that features a P45 Chipset and at least an ALC889a Codec. Your computer’s DVD drive must be Intel-based or have a Leopard Remote Disc feature. There must be at least 5GB space on your computer’s hard drive, and if you prefer to install the Snow Leopard developer tools, it should be at least 7GB.
A built-in display is also a requirement. Satisfying the pre-requisites, during installation of the said operating system, you must have the following: a blank Formatted HDD GUID, installed Leopard/Tiger drive and a DMG of Snow Leopard 10A432.
To install the new operating system named Snow Leopard, simply follow all the given instructions. Your computer has to be ready with appropriate memory capacity.
