A wireless access point or WAP is a mechanism that is used in order for wireless communication gadgets, such as mobile phones and game consoles, to connect to a wireless networking point. A repeater is used in order to make the range of the signal wider in a given area. This is ideal for users who make use of the Internet in wide space but the range of the wireless access point does not reach some areas.

You can use a second wireless access point as a repeater so that you can broaden the range of your Internet signal and work in areas that are not reached by the wireless access point itself. Here are the steps on how you can use a second wireless access point as a repeater:

  1. Access point. First, you have to determine the right place where you can put your access point. To test, place the access router, in an area where you want your access connection point to be. You can test the signal strength of the access point by using your laptop and looking to see if the signal is excellent. If not, find a place in your home or office where there will be no obstructions to the signal. Avoid putting the access router behind thick walls or items that may hinder the signal from reaching your device.
  2. Set up second access point. The next thing to do is to set up your second access point. You can use another access bridge router in doing this. Again, test to see the range of your second access point. Once you have already determined where you can put the second access point, you can already use it as a repeater.
  3. Using wireless repeater. The next thing to do is to configure the access point as a wireless repeater. If you do not know how to do this, you can consult the manual of the wireless access point device that you are using or visit the website of the brand of the wireless access point device that you have. Look for instructions on how you can use it as a wireless repeater. Once it is already set to the wireless repeater mode, you can already use it to improve the range of your Internet signal.
  4. Test the range. Once you have already configured everything, the last thing that you have to do is to test the range of your wireless repeater. Go to a place where the signal does not reach before and see if you have a signal now and check if you can access the Internet from that location.

These are the steps on how you can make your second access point a repeater. When you do this, make sure that the second access point can act as a wireless repeater for the devices or routers and access points that you have. If you are going to buy an access point, ask if it is compatible with the router that you have so that you can do this.
