How To Use Google Trends to Find the Best Title Keywords

“Google it” is a common phrase you hear when people want to search for information on the internet. Google is perhaps the most well known site on the web and the most widely used search engine. Google is also host to Google trends, an internet site that gives updates on the top keyword trending on the web. Top keywords are generally the most popular search words which, when mentioned in an article, can bring traffic to your website.

Here are tips that can help you in learning how to use Google trends:

  • Visit the Google Trends site at google.com/trends. On top of the home page, you will find the main search trend bar. Type the keywords you want to find. If you do not have the specific word or phrase, type all the words you can think of that are related to the topic you have in mind. For example, if you want to find the best keywords for an article entitled “Why medical insurance is important”, enter the word combinations “medical insurance” and “importance of medical insurance” to yield best search results.
  • Try several keywords and compare which one yields the closest result to your search. You may type two or more words with commas in between so you have more chances of access to the best title keywords. Find out how many times a word or term has been searched for from the search history so you can decide which keyword to apply.
  • Look for the latest search trends. Google Trends updates its top 100 hot trends daily. Study each word trend carefully, if possible on a daily basis so you will have an idea which words stay longer on the trend. Some keywords do not last more than a day, depending on the hot issues being followed on the net. So, if Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie file for divorce, expect the trending topics to linger on the buzz for many days, even weeks. Of course keywords that are closely tied with the divorce issue (divorce, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Jolie, Pitt, Angelina, Brad, marriage and so on) are top choices that you can use for your title. With the proper use of said keywords, traffic, for sure, will direct to your articles and you will score numerous hits every day for as long as the issue remains hot on the internet.
  • Consult Google Trends everyday or at least every other day, depending on how often you publish articles on your website. As said previously, keyword trending is so dynamic that it changes on a daily - or at times - on an hourly basis.
  • Know how to phrase your title keywords properly. The best keyword combinations rely mostly on the arrangement of words and how they are used in a sentence.

Keep in mind that the best title keywords are those that are ranked higher on Google Trends. Do not settle for anything less – only for the top ones. Using the top 10 hot topic keywords from Google Trends is not a bad idea at all as you are assured of more traffic activity on your site.
