Most scrapbookers really enjoy going to the craft store, sifting through every possible scrapbook supply, and coming home with mounds of new paper, stickers, stamps, and page embellishments. These crafters thrive on hours of work to create beautiful layouts through cutting paper edges with special scissors, drawing tiny polka dots across the page, or stamping a beautiful motif as a border. For some, this traditional type of scrapbook is the only thing they know and will continue to do.

However, with the technology we have nowadays, it isn't necessary for you to have paper crafting supplies coming out your ears or even a lot of time to cut and paste pictures. Scrapbooking can now be done like almost everything else-on the computer. In fact, using scrapbook software is downright convenient, and it's even still quite creative.

When using scrapbook software, you'll first choose a theme for the book or perhaps just for a single page. You'll be shown the available pages you can choose from. Most software programs have hundreds of page options with everything from wedding paper to days on the beach, school events to holidays. Most software can be updated and added to as well, so you should rarely struggle with finding the right page to use.

After choosing a page design, you can add photos and perfect your layout. Some scrapbook softwares have pre-made layouts which force you to have only a certain number of pictures per page. However, some software programs may allow you to design your own layout, mixing and matching photos as you see fit. There may even be special crop tools for cutting pictures just like if you were performing the task by hand. You can even "cut" the edges of your pictures with a special design using the software.

Once you've got the layout set and pictures added, you can now embellish. Scrapbook software has no limits to the embellishments you can use. There will be stickers and words, snowflakes and beach balls, wedding rings or baby bottles. Everything you need or imagine will be right at your finger tips for creating the best page.

When you finish creating the entire scrapbook, you can print the pages and store them in a traditional scrapbook or you can save the files on your computer as an electronic scrapbook only. Many scrapbook software programs even allow you the option to email the scrapbook as an attachment for your friends and family to view as well.
