Computers mainly used in schools, libraries or offices have their systems changed so you can't access certain Web sites. Some of the most popular URLs tend to be blocked in such computers because they are never there for Internet use. They're mainly used for work and other educational purposes. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to access the Internet using a computer that will block URLs of popular Web sites, there are a handful of ways to try to unblock the URLs yourself, without the help of a computer expert.
- First, try to use different proxy servers to unblock the URLs. The proxy server works outside your computer and since it's a third party giving you the access to the Internet, the machine won't be able to identify any Internet activity. The proxy servers are also used to make you browse through the Internet anonymously because it hides the IP address of the computer you're using. There are many proxy servers out there, all of them will do the same thing for you.
- You may also try to use Google to unblock the URLs. Use the services Google offers like their search engines. Instead of typing the URL you are trying to reach, simply go to Google and search for the Web site you're looking for. After Google gives you a list of all the pages they found, you may choose to recover what's left of that specific Web site in Google's cache copy system. The Web site will run through Google's copy Web site and won't be blocked by the computer's system.
- Use the IP address instead of a Web URL. If you know the IP address belonging to the Web site you're trying to unblock, type the full number in the navigation bar instead of typing the URL. This will trick the system and will give you the Web site instead of a block warning.
- If everything else fails, you might want to apply URL redirects. There are many Web sites like Snipurl.com or Tinyurl.com that allow you to change the URL addresses for the Web sites. All you'll have to do is to create a new URL for the Web site using these services, copy the new address, paste it in the navigation toolbar and hit enter. The system won't recognize the new address making it easy for you to unblock URLs belonging to the Web sites you are trying to check.
There are also different ways to unblock URLs in a computer with blocked Internet, but these are the easiest ways to unblock the URLs for a quick use.
