Coach Cynthia Brian shares some basics about gardening as a hobby. Male: Looking for a new hobby but not sure what to pursue? Why not try gardening? Former farm girl and present day life coach, Cynthia Brian talks about the joys of getting your hands dirty. Cynthia: I am a gardener, I grew up on a farm in an upper valley and when we were young, my parents gave each of us a plot of land and we were allowed to do whatever we wanted with—that we can let it be plowed, we could plant weeds, we could plant vegetables, we could plant flowers and so—my earliest memories from my childhood were always planting. Gardening has always been a hobby to me and it is something that everybody can do. You are a gardener if you have one plant. You can have a plant in your office, you can have it on your window sill, you can have it planted on a patio so, do not give me any excuses that you do not have a farm or you do not have a land, it does not matter, the smallest pot will do. Now, what can you plant, if you are thinking of planting a garden, how easy is it? You just pick up some seeds or go to your local home nursery. It is better to go local, I suppose to going to a catalog company and ordering from across the country or another country because we have micro climates everywhere. And there are so many easy, easy plants that you can grow. It might be a proponent and growing your own herbs. Do you like to cook, what about growing some basil and rosemary, sage and you can just pick it. One of the things that would be easy is you can have a portable garden. I got my kid’s red wagon flyer and we just filled it with dirt and we putted all different herbs in it and then we even planted a tomato and a pepper plant so that we could wheel it around if we wanted to have like a barbecue and we have the herbs right there. So, gardening for a hobby, to me, there is nothing better because gardening was life, you will go in to the garden and dig in the soil and it relaxes you, you lose track of time and you can always enhance your house and your office and everything with the beautiful flowers that you have or the plants and vegetables and herbs that you were growing. I love gardening. Male: Do you want to give your green thumb a workout? Post your gardening goals right here on www.peoplejam.com.
