Hi! I am Doctor Lauren at petside.com. A lot of people like to bath their pet at home to keep them nice and clean and that's really important to do. Today, I am going to show you how to prepare your pet for a bath so that you can get it done properly at home. Before you get started with your pet's bath, there is a couple of things that you want to do. First, it's really important to protect the ears. If soap and water gets into the ears, this could cause an ear infection. I would like to take some cotton and just put it in the pet's ear canal. Next, you want to protect your pet eyes, soap in the eyes can cause irritation which again could be very, very uncomfortable to your pet. What you can do is find a loop that's made for the eyes, that will just keep the eyes protected. Then you just take a little bit of this loop and you put it in each eye. Even though you have put the loop in the eyes and the cotton in the ears, it's still a good idea to try and keep your pet's head out of the water and away from too much soap. Then you want to find a good shampoo. If your pet has allergies or fleas, your veterinarian can give you a shampoo that can help these conditioned. If you are treating one of these conditions with a special shampoo, make sure to let the shampoo sit on your pet for about 10 minutes. This will really help to get your pet skin nice and healthy.
