Corrine Leigh: This is exciting we are here with Megan and Nicolai. We actually featured one of the lessons out her book and an early episode. Megan: Everybody kind of started coming to me with their old torn out t-shirts and saying, “Well here fix this.” And I said “No it is really you can do it yourself.’ Corrine Leigh: Instead of you were making everyone’s t-shirt now you could be like here there is the book. Megan: Keep cutting. [Laughing] Megan: Do it yourself. Rob Czar: It is so an honor to boat this summer and the McCarran Park Pool. We are going to take lesson at Megan’s book and show you how to make bathing suite out of an old t-shirt. Stick around. [Music Playing] Corrine Leigh: Need a bathing suite but do not care for the expensive price tag while here is what you do. First you need one extra large t-shirt but if like the miss match look go for two different colored shirts. Now cut the bottom hand of both shirts. Take your top shirt and cut two 1” wide strips off the bottom. Cut each strip in half twice so end up with four equal strips. Take your bottom shirt and cut off 1” wide strip. Cut that in half once so you have one long strip. Cut one more strip off the bottom, cut it in half twice so you have two equal strips. Now measure and cut 9” off the top shirt, pin both of the layers together and measure and sketch to triangle that is about 10” across the bottom and 8” down those sides. Create a 1” arch at the bottom then turn your fabric in a half circle and draw another triangle at the same dimensions. Pin inside both triangles and cut them out. Flip over one of the triangles and pull down the top corner 1”. Take one of the two equals strips stretch it out and place it over the folded corner. Now fold and pin both sides of the triangle in about a half in inch. Sew both sides. Carefully fold and pin the bottom of the triangle up an inch. So we seem leaving an open tunnel to put the strip through later. Repeat all those stuffs to the second triangle and when both pieces are complete take your one long strips stretch it out and attached the end to a safety pin. Thread the strip through the bottom of both pieces and you are done with the top. Now take your bottom shirt and measure a 19” by 16” rectangle. Pin and cut it out. Trace an hour glass shape on to the fabric. Pin and cut that out. You want to narrows part to measure a 4” across 11” from the top. Flip it over and fold and pin each corner in about a 1”. Now stretch and place each of the four equal strips on to a separate corner. [Music Playing] Fold and pin in one side about 1”. Repeat to the opposite side. Sew a seam down on both of these sides. Now make several slits in the arch area so the fabric folds easily. Fold and pin the remaining two sides then sew a seam down both side and you are done with the bottom. You now have sweet new bikini and be sure to check out Megan’s book Generation-T. For more cool ways to transform a t-shirt.
