How To Find Teaching Resources

Looking for free teaching supplies? Lesson plans?

Here are some ways I found free teaching resources while teaching 1st grade.

Free Teaching Supplies:

Believe it or not, there are countless companies that want to give away samples of their products to teachers.

  1. To find free teaching supplies, enter the keywords, "free teaching supplies," "free class kits," and "free teacher samples" in your search query.
  2. Come up with alternate keywords as you think of them. It may take a while to browse through each offer (some offers appear to be free but actually aren't) but don't give up.

Here are some sites to get you started in finding free teaching supplies and resources:

  • Video Placement Worldwide This site offers free education videos such as, "Mr. Jelly Belly's Factory Tour" - complete with video, jellybeans, and activity sheets.
  • Teacher Freebies This site offers an extensive list of current teacher freebies.
  • IloveSchools.com This site allows teachers to register and ask the public for donations for their classrooms.
  • Sitesforteachers.com This site offers a very large list of teacher resources.

Lesson Plans:

  1. To find lesson plans, enter the keywords, "Lesson Plans" into your search engine and initiate the search.
  2. If you are looking for a subject specific lesson plan, such as 1st grade math, you may want to narrow down your search query to "fist grade math lesson" or "elementary math lesson plan" instead.

Here are some good lesson plan sites:

While you're looking for supplies online, consider taking your mandatory continuing education classes through a convenient online program as well!
