Nutrition courses train people in the field of personal health management, stress control, disease prevention, injury, and health improvement. The subjects offered in nutrition courses are – developmental nutrition, patho-physiologic basis of metabolic diseases, evidence-based nutrition, vitamins and minerals, assessment of nutritional status, nutritional therapeutics, clinical biochemistry, biochemistry of nutrition, etc.

Some institutes require basic knowledge of biology, physiology, and/or chemistry. Additional courses such as home sciences, cooking, canning, food preservation, etc., may also be a requirement.

Careers in nutrition
Certified nutritionists can pursue a career in hospitals, clinics and other agencies in the nutrition industry. Some nutrition courses can be completed in as half a year’s time and some may take more than that.

Degrees in nutrition courses
Some online nutrition courses offered are bachelor’s degree in nutrition and master’s degree in nutrition. Before you enroll for online degrees, you should check with nearby hospitals, clinics and other agencies in the nutrition industry whether degrees offered by the online institution would be accepted by them. Even if hospitals, clinics and other agencies in the nutrition industry do not accept unrecognized degrees, if the online institution is credible, food science professional, teachers, culinary researchers, chefs, personal trainers, gym trainers, sports instructors, sports persons, and coaches can derive extensive use of the knowledge they gain from such nutrition degrees.

Once basic training is achieved, you can provide counseling in alternative and complementary medicine related to nutritional sciences. Thereafter, you can pursue PhD programs in nutrition courses.
