The Audiovox Flasher V7 was made for Virgin Mobile for their popular pay as you go phone service. Although the pay per minute phones have traditionally been lower quality phones, the V7 Flasher is different. It has a built-in camera and games, speaker-phone and advanced online data capabilities. Aimed at the younger crowd with its MTV and Comedy Central tie-ins, picture messaging and ringtones, this is a very capable phone. It has become one of the more popular prepaid cell phones available.
- Buying on the web. The Virgin Mobile website is a good place to start. It's always a good idea to check with the service provider's website for compatible phones. They might not be the cheapest, but they have good info for the first-time buyer. Amazon.com and eBay.com will have units available for good prices, some used and some new. No harm in looking at your local online classifieds such as Craigslist and Sell.com. If you want to look for alternative websites, use a search engine such as Google or yahoo and type "audiovox v7 flasher" in the search bar.
- Buying at local store. The larger electronics stores such as Circuit City and Best Buy will have the Flasher V7 as well as accessories and minutes. Department stores that sell electronics (like Wal-Mart, Target or Kmart) might not have regular cell phones, but instead have the prepaid cell phones. Convenience stores like 7-11 and Store 24 have a selection of prepaid phones that usually include Virgin Mobile's V& Flasher as well as minutes. Other stores that sell mobile phones and accessories should carry the V7 Flasher.
- Check for used deals. Along with the used deals you'll find on eBay and Craigslist you should also check the local want ads. Every region has a weekly want ad publication that has either a cell phone or electronics section you may find a V7 deal.
- Price range. You can probably find a V7 for around $50. That's with a wall charger, belt clip and 60 minute prepaid card. Of course if you get it used you'll find it for a cut rate price, sometimes with extras like downloaded games and ringtones from the previous owner. I found one on Craigslist for $20 that had two chargers, a case and a couple of games already on it. The minutes have to be purchased from Virgin Mobile and their rates are as follows: $14.99 for 100 minutes, $24.99 for 200, $34.99 for 300, $49.99 for 400, $59.99 for 600 and $99.99 for 1000. The 600 and 1000 minutes come with unlimited nights and weekends, the 400 comes with 2000 and the 300 comes with 1000 night and weekend. The smallest two plans do not have any special night and weekend rates. If you want to just pay by usage, the rates are 18 cents per minute or you can pay $6.99 a month to get 10 cents per minute. Texting is 5 cents per text or you can get a texting plan, $1.99 for 50 texts, $4.99 for 200, $9.99 for 1000. Virgin has since upgrade their phone lineup so you may want to check out the Snapper, the V7's replacement, available for $59.99.
So there it is, all the ways you could possibly buy an Audiovox V7 Flasher prepaid phone. Personally, I think it is always best to go into a store and talk to someone about the product you are interested in. Good luck.
