Now, when you are purchasing a television you need to consider the quality of picture and the other word "resolution", you need to get a high resolution television. Most people nowadays prefer a high definition television, as it gives the best quality of pictures on your television. Check the inputs of the television before purchasing. It should have at least one set of inputs and outputs for audio and video.

Step 3:

Home theater receiver - a home theater receiver is the brain of a home theater, all the signals go to the receiver and get transferred to the different speaker devices. A home theater receiver provides power to the speakers and segregates it to make a surround sound through the different speakers. It provides all the input for all of your equipment.

Step 4:

Speakers - now, the speakers are one of the main components of your home theater. It's a must that you have 4 - 5 speakers to make surround sound. It is advisable to get 5.1 or 6.1 series speakers. Depending on your budget you can get a small speaker or a big one, you just need to take note of its capacity to deliver sound. On the other hand you can use a subwoofer, which will make the sound more precise and give added volume and more quality of bass volume.

Step 5:

VCD or DVD players - using a DVD or a VCD device is the most popular way to watch movies using a home theater. Choose a DVD or a VCD player with compatible ports for the television and the home theater receiver. An HD-DVD player is the most high end player today, and it uses Blu-ray DVDs to play movies in a very high quality.

Step 6:

Multimedia players, CD players and Turntables - you will probably want to listen to music or play your favorite collections on your home theater system, and you can connect these gadgets to the home theater receiver and listen to them while relaxing.
