Tired of watching the same kinds of shows, and want something educational this time?  Here is how you can find good education programs on TV.

  • Go online and search the Internet.  You find a lot of education programs just by entering keywords and phrases such as ‘TV education programs' in your search engine.  To narrow down your list, you could add what network you want to watch TV programs from, what type of programs you want to watch, what topics are discussed, for what age group the shows are, what time and what place the shows will be aired.
  • Go to educational websites.  These will feature educational resources as well as TV programs you can watch to complement or enhance your knowledge.  There will be reviews and ratings, as well as descriptions and summaries.  If you don't know a specific website, you could search ‘educational websites' on your search engine or look at ads featuring education.  You could also check out your government's educational programs, and these may include recommendations on what TV shows are informative and educative.
  • Go to TV network websites.  Some TV networks feature educational programs. Visit their sites to find out whether they have shows you could watch.  You would find the schedules for when they would be aired at these websites.  There are some channels exclusively for educational shows, so check whether they are showing programs that interest you.
  • Go to TV show review websites.  There are sites where TV shows are ranked and reviewed, and these have a category on educational TV programs.  You could check out these sites to know what shows are good, and you can even read comments about the shows from other viewers.
  • Surf channels.  Search for educational TV programs by surfing through channels.  This requires a bit of luck and a lot of patience, but you are likely to find an educational program if you surf at different times of the day and on different days of the week.  Just remember the channel and the time of the show once you have found one, or you may have to channel surf again.
  • Refer to ads.  There are advertisements for educational programs posted in different places like on TV, on the Internet, in posters, classified ads, in the news, in flyers and brochures.
  • Join online forums and groups.  There are groups on the Internet that focus on education, and there may be TV show recommendations.  You could also post a question regarding educational TV programs, and other members may give you suggestions.
  • Ask your friends and colleagues.  Many people are interested in watching educational TV programs.  Know what people's favorite education programs are and list the schedules and the channels where they are aired.

Once you have found an educational TV program, write down details about it like the name of the show, the channel and time when it is aired.  You could also record the shows so that you could watch them again later on.

The TV can be a good source of education, just as long as you find the right programs.  Use these tips and find the TV show you are sure to learn from and enjoy.
