Comdial phones are the popular choice for most business offices today, because their standard speakerphone is user-friendly and has many options that make business communications very efficient. Even though the Comdial phone has quite an assortment of buttons and lights, it is relatively easy to learn how to use for maximum communication efficiency both with colleagues inside the office as well as dealing with outside vendors and clients.
- When the comdial phone rings and you want to answer a call, lift the headset and speak into the receiver, or push the flashing red light in order to use the speakerphone feature, which allows you to talk without holding the handset up to your ear.
- If you want to use the comdial phone to make an outside call, pick up the receiver and press a line button, waiting until you hear a dial tone. On the Comdial phone keypad, punch in the telephone number or extension number you want to reach. Once you hang up the receiver, you can redial the last number called by picking up the receiver again and pressing the star sign - * - on the keypad.
- The Comdial phone allows the speaker to put a call on hold while gathering other information or answering another line by simply pushing the hold button. To resume speaking to the party you put on hold, press the button with the flashing light or press the button that says "tap".
- If you need to transfer the call you are currently on to another extension within the business directory, press the button denoted "TRNS/CNF", dial your desired extension number, then hang up to allow the call to be routed to the new extension number. You can also wait until the party at the new extension picks up and announce that you are transferring a call to them.
- The conference calling feature is very popular when using Comdial phones, because it allows several parties to participate in the conversation without leaving their offices. Start the conference call by dialing the first number on your list, then pressing the "TRNS/CNF" button. Now dial the number of the next party who you want to connect to the conference call, pressing the "TRNS/CNF" button and repeating this same procedure until all callers are connected for the conference. The Comdial phone can connect up to five callers using this feature.
Additional features which make the Comdial phone popular for business usage include the ability to forward calls to another phone as well as program the phone with caller ID to alert the user to the identity of the person calling.
