Julie: Hi! I am Julie Mulligan from 1800flowers.com and I have appealed my very favorite people with me, my nieces, and my daughter, Casey. Day for free to help me out today, because I want show you some projects that are simple, easy to do, is in natural elements to make your thanksgiving table special.
We love thanksgiving in my house. It is all about family and friends, and gathering around the table for a good meal. So, I want you girls to eat up now, get your energy because we are going to have a fun, busy day. And, we are going to do lots of great projects, ready? Happy Thanksgiving!
Mary Lou brings the pies, Cathy brings the appetizers, and every year, my brother, Jim sends the centerpiece. And luckily, he sends it a couple of days in advance. This way, I know what I have to work with and how I can bring the special touches of my own onto the table working off the centerpiece.
This year, he sent the Harvest Glow, is it beautiful, I love the amber glass. I happen to collect all glass bottles that I find in garage sales and markets. Actually, it inspired one of my products, the colors of four. This is sold to my collection. And, it comes in a set of four, so I am having six people for dinner, so I buy two sets. I have two to put on and when to sell.
So, I am going to use those as place-card holders. So I took some old photographs and some new ones actually, that I just made a little black and white CP at tone. Cut out the images to size, put them on the tag, and it is Thanksgiving. So, on the back of each tag, I wrote what I am grateful for, for each one of my brothers and sisters, and nieces, and nephews, my sister, I love the way we laugh together.
So, I put that on Peggy’s, and you know for big bro, Jim, his guidance. And then, put one on each place setting, and if you really feeling generous, you can have him take at home as a little moment of these years Thanksgiving dinner, and every time they look at it, they will remember what a great sister they have.
Another element that I am pulling out of the Harvest Glow centerpiece is the Sunflowers. You really can have too many candles at a dinner party, even if it is just for family and close friends. You really want to set the mood. So we just picked some Sunflowers at a local florist, and we have picked some nice, green Apples because you know fallen Apples, they go hand in hand. And, all you need to do is to cut an opening in the top. They are going to have to hold the taillight. So, I am going to just start on this Apple. Casey has already got one going there, and you girls do in some Sunflowers, okay?
Female: Casey, should I take the leaves off the stem?
Casey: Yes, you can just pull the leaves right off.
Female: How sure do I get this done?
Julie: Well actually, you have to cut it right at the bottom of the flower, so that it sits fresh on the table, okay? Now give that
This project goes really quick, when she get started after that a little bit amount of time that you are going to spend working on it. You are going to add such a wow to the whole table. So, go ahead, give it a try.
Setting the table is sort of my thing at the holidays. I love to just have fun with it, and do a little creative things that are all my own, and surprise the family every year.
So, we are making this floral placemats with just things that we have gathered up right outside. This time of year, you can just walk outside and you will find so many things, just use y our imagination, just gather up some things that look nice to you. And then, come back and start the project. You can work together, it is a great family project, that is what I really like about it.
So, we have to send that out to pick up some more things, but I want it to get started so that I can show you what we are doing. You start with just a piece of cardboard that we cut in to a circle that would just fit onto the plates that we are going to use on Thanks Giving. And, Devon here, you can start with that one. And, all you need to do really is glue the leaves, Casey is using some hot glue but I have Lisa and Devon
