A wedding veil should complement your wedding dress. It is best to look for a veil at the store where you bought your wedding dress. Here are some specific guidelines.

1. Decide on the length of your veil. There are basically three lengths for a wedding veil.  (1) Elbow length - 30 inches long (2) fingertip length - 36 inches long and the (3) cathedral length - down to the floor.  The elbow length veil will work best if you are 5'4" or less in height. This will make you look taller and enhance your figure. The fingertip length will look good on you if you are 5'7" or taller in height. The cathedral length veil should match your wedding dress. It is worn only for a very formal wedding occasion, and your wedding dress should also be cathedral in length.
2. Set a budget. A simple veil can cost a huge sum if you do not allocate enough time to find the right veil at the right price. Work within your budget, and research the range of prices. You may also look at thrift shops. Sometimes, you can get the best finds at these stores.
3. Take into account the color of your veil. The color of the veil should complement the color of your wedding dress. Do not wear a veil that has a darker color than your wedding dress. If you cannot find a veil that has the same color as your dress, choose a color that is up to 2 shades lighter.
4. Purpose of the veil. The veil can be worn right on top of your forehead or at the back of your head. If you want to elaborate your hairstyle, you may choose to put the veil at the back of your head as an accessory. If you want a more profound look, you can wear the veil over the face. Ask the opinion of other people whom you trust to help you decide what kind of veil to use.
5. Convenient veils. Before deciding to buy, make sure you are thoroughly instructed on how to secure your veil. There are some veils that come off easily. This can ruin your overall look if your veil falls off while you are marching down the aisle. Do not settle for cheap veils that may appear a hindrance rather than a complementary accessory.
