How To Develop a Good Relationship with Your Neighbors and Relatives

No matter how nice and fun work, school and social life bring, you look forward to starting and ending the day at home, where you can be yourself and feel secure.  And it would be more enriching if there is a good relationship with your neighbors and relatives.

A good relationship doesn’t happen overnight but you can start by showing them that you are friendly the first time you meet.  An effortless grin would go a long way.  Follow through with a handshake of hi’s, hello’s line and an introduction of who you are. Strangers in a new place would surely welcome this gesture, so for sure, they will reciprocate.

Making an effort of getting to know them would be next step.  The more you know about them the better you will be able to deal with them harmoniously. Try to find out what their interests and inclinations, turn offs and triggers for anger are. If you have something in common with them, that would be great.  It would be a breeze to spend some time with them and it would add fun to your day-to-day life.  But if it turns out you do not have anything in common, do not react negatively and keep it to yourself. Besides, it might be an eye-opener for you.  Be excited as you might to see a whole new world when you are with them and develop a liking on their interests and inclinations. Knowing their fetish would also be an easy way to win them.

Word of caution though, you should know when to stop asking, and think a lot of their privacy.  You also would not want them to think you are prying.

Learn to knock.  Do not barge in on them.  Ethics would tell you that the best time to knock or to call at any home is nine in the morning until nine in the evening. This is the time when most people have awaken or are ready to retire and have finished doing everything they have to do to start their day and to end their day.

When you are in need of something and you see it in our neighbor’s backyard, garden and wherever, do not just get it. Make it a practice of asking for permission.  Do not take things for granted and think that they would not mind.

Don’t gossip or be a tittle-tattle monger.  This is exactly what the neighbors do not need. There are a lot of things to whine about. So embark on topics that are not rumor in nature.

The last thing you want is to get caught in between two neighbors.  Never stick your nose in their problems. If you do, you run the risk of losing one or both of them, even when they are able to patch things up.

It is nice to have a good relationship with neighbors and relatives.  It would make you look forward to starting and ending your day at home, even more.
