How To Get Married at the Courthouse

  1. Visit your local county’s official website. Browse through the Probate link where you can find the Marriage License tab. There, you can find the information you need to get hold of a license. From that webpage, you will most likely find the schedules on when you can begin the process of acquiring one or when you may receive yours. They will have the details regarding the time and day it will be available.
  2. There will be a downloadable version of your Marriage License application. This is usually a .PDF file. Make sure that you have Adobe Reader so you can open the file. If not, you will have the option to download it before you can download the marriage license document. You will fall under either of two kinds of fees when getting hold of this license. The first kind is if you are a couple that hands out an official document of your completion of a prenuptial education course and the second kind is if you are a couple that doesn’t. There is a difference in price between these two kinds of fees. If you are the first kind of couple, the amount you will be paying is $21. On the other hand, if you fall under the second kind, the total amount due you will be $56.
  3. Your wedding day at your local county’s courthouse can be on any day between Mondays through Fridays. The time it is usually available to hold the ceremony is between 8:30 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon. Make sure to make a prior arrangement at a Magistrate Court.
