Here's how to celebrate Valentine's Day when you're single.
"The Secret" makes a good point, to achieve what you desire, it is important to send out positive and loving thoughts into the Universe. So if we are to believe this Secret, we better not wake up grumpy this February 14th, and instead make this a love yourself day! It is a fact that self-secure people who radiate confidence are incredibly attractive to others, so who knows who else will follow in loving? Here's how to celebrate Valentine's Day when you're single.
Step 1:

Love, Love and Some More Love

On this Love Yourself Valentine's Day, the following things are strictly forbidden:

  • Self-loathing
  • Self-pity
  • Self-torture

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let's get onto that "L" word...

Step 2:

Heart-shaped Waffles and Rose Petals

Loving yourself means feeding yourself, with - you guessed it - love!

Don't head out for a quick bite and don't let me catch you with a cereal bar between those teeth! This is the day to take some sweet little time to nurture yourself in the loveliest way possible; a seriously sticky sweet and red Valentine's breakfast.

Nothing is too wild today, so make it your most favorite breakfast of all time, and remember, no self-loathing or self-torture, this is the time to splurge, not to diet.

I am not advocating an unhealthy lifestyle, simply suggesting an indulgent and perfectly decadent day, showcasing self-love. So make the breakfast yourself, infuse it with love and enjoy it to your heart's content. Food prepared with love tastes differently, it is true!

Step 3:

Bubbles, Baby!

We need to wash ourselves anyway, why not enjoy the experience?

If you have a bath tub, fill it with nice warm water and squeeze in an exorbitant amount of foamy bath-gel, which might as well be of the pink/red variety, so that when you step into your bubble bath you will be wrapped in great smelling foam; you can't possibly take a bath like this and think bad thoughts at the same time.

If you do not have access to a tub, make your shower an exotic one!

Get ready for this one...

Play tropical music, strew flowers (fake or real) around the bathroom, and put on the cutest bikini you own and immerse yourself in your own special island shower. Use all sorts of great smelling soaps and potions and afterwards wrap yourself in a towel or robe to get ready for the next step...

Step 4:

Not Going out... yet!

Now you are all clean and fresh, it's time to get pampered!

There is no need to head out to a beauty parlor in order to get beautified and relax. Prepare yourself a banana-honey mask and flip through your favorite magazines while leaving it on. Give yourself a manicure, rub lotion into your feet, take care of every part of your body that needs some TLC.

Take this time to immerse into self-love; you are worth it.

Step 5:

Me Time

Get your happy juices flowing, and indulge in your favorite pastime. Reading, painting, cuddling with animals, cruising the town for bargains... whatever does it for you, do it!

Step 6:

No Card? No Sweat!

So you did not find a Valentine's card on your doormat? Give yourself something beautiful, it doesn't have to be Valentine related, just something you really like, it does not have to be pricey either - God knows we can't all afford Tiffany's - but make it something beautiful; "gifting" yourself new dishwasher soap is not the idea here.

Step 7:

Dress to Impress... Yourself!

Not only when going on dates do we tend to dress ourselves in the hopes of impressing others, this generally happens in daily life too! Today is all about impressing the loveliest person in your life; you! So bring out that vintage number people at work won't appreciate, or break out those super bold never-worn brand new shoes you got because you fell in love with them but never had the guts to wear them, you are going to impress someone tonight!

Remember, sending out hateful thoughts to the lovey dovey all-over-each other couples is sending a bad vibe into the universe, so turn those negative thoughts into self-loving thoughts, even if it may look like it today, with all those couples glued to each other everywhere, you in fact are NOT the only single person in the world, and being single is not a bad thing! Love yourself, if you don't, nobody will.
