During weddings, the bride and groom should be most thankful for the parents. If you think that thanking the parents in the wedding invitation is not enough, here are other ways for you to honor your parents as you celebrate your wedding.
- During the wedding itself. One of the best times for you to honor the parents is during the wedding itself. one of the easiest ways to do this is by allowing both of your parents to walk you down the aisle during your wedding, or if you are the groom, to provide the parents with a bouquet in their seats so that they will know just how much you care for them and how much you honor them. Next, you can also ask the official who is presiding over the wedding ceremonies to actually say a little prayer or a little passage for the parents of both the bride and the groom. This is usually not included in the program during the wedding, but most officiates in weddings will have no problem in incorporating a little something through which the parents can be honored.
- During the reception. If you are unable to insert an opportunity to thank the parents during the actual wedding, you can also show your thanks and appreciation during the reception. One of the ways through which you can do this is by adding the pictures of your parents in the wedding reception tables. Or, during the toast, you can also say a little speech for your parents, telling them how much you appreciate them and just how much they have made you into the person that you are today. During the reception, you can also provide symbolic gifts, such as bouquets of flowers or other little gifts. If you think that you can express your gratitude more through writing, you can also write a little thank you card for your parents.
- Through tokens. Some of the most common tokens that you can provide for your parents during the wedding ceremony are the bouquet and the handkerchief. You can get fine handkerchiefs and have them specially embroidered with the name of your parents. Place these in the seats reserved for your parents. You can also choose other gift items that you think your parents will appreciate. If your parents are into writing, for instance, you can give them a new fountain pen or a new notebook.
- Through seating arrangements. Finally, make sure that you seat your parents in the best seats in the house. During the wedding ceremony, make sure that they are in front. During the reception, make sure that your parents are seated in the table of honor. Even if you have plenty of friends that you are thankful for, you should also remember that your parents are still more important. After all, it is your parents that reared you and supported you through many years.
With these in mind, you should be able to honor your parents and how them how much you love them, during the most important day in your life.
