It’s common to feel shy when you’re dating, whether it’s speed dating or not. Although common, shyness might ruin your date. But don’t have your date ruined just because you are shy. Hey, you can overcome your shyness. In fact, there are many things you can do to resolve your shyness. Below are just some of these many things you can do:
- Find the reason behind your shyness. Why are you shy on your speed dating, anyway? Knowing the reason behind your shyness will help you figure out the perfect solution for it. For instance, if you are shy because you’ll go with the person alone, then go there with a friend. If you are shy because you’re not used to dating, then ask friends or read tips on how to properly handle dating.
- Imitate. What do other people do while speed dating? What do they wear, how do they act, and how do they talk? Simply imitate what these people do and you’ll do just fine on your speed dating.
- Bring a friend. Will it be okay to bring a friend in the speed dating? Ask the organizer if it’s okay and if it is, then why not bring a friend? Your friend can join the speed dating as well and both of you will have a familiar company. That will at least lessen your shyness.
- It’s not you. Most people feel shy because they feel everyone is noticing them. Well, believe it or not, you are not that popular in the crowd. Just consider how you see other people. Are all of them popular or at least noticeable to you? Only some of these will surely be noticeable in your eyes. So, only a few people will notice you. Why be shy, if that’s the case?
- Everyone’s shy. Do you know that almost everyone in the speed dating is shy? Yes, just like you, they are all shy. So why be shy if everyone is shy? You already belong to an environment where you really should belong. It’s already a familiar environment and you should feel cozy in it.
- Make friends. Approach other people who seem to be so shy like you. That way, you’ll have some friends in the event and they’ll have someone to be with also. You’ll resolve not only one but many shyness problems when you do this.
- Say you’re shy. Admitting that you are shy will help other people adjust to your shyness. This will signal them to be more approachable to you instead of waiting you to approach them.
- Bring something. Do you have a lucky charm or your favorite teddy bear friend? Bring that thing on the speed dating and it will be like you brought a friend with you. You’ll feel boost in your confidence as well and that will eliminate any traces of shyness.
Do you think shyness is a very big thing that should ruin the success of your speed dating? Obviously, your date is much more important. Overcoming your shyness will depend on your mindset, too. As long as you keep all these tips in mind, you’ll feel at least lesser shyness.
