Your Guide to Marrying on the Most Romantic Day of the Year
Difficulty:

So the question has been popped, the answer was yes, and then you made the decision to get married on what is considered to be one of the most romantic days of the year. Where do you start? Follow this simple guide to help plan and enjoy your dream day.
- Book in advance: This is one point that I can't stress enough. Valentine's Day is a very popular day to get married and venues can be fully booked years in advance, especially if St. Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday. If your dream venue is fully booked, consider your other options carefully; are you willing to sacrifice your dream wedding for a calendar date?
- Consider your guests: If you intend to host a large wedding, do remember that as Valentine's Day more often than not falls on a weekday it may make it difficult for your guests to attend due to work commitments. Even though your guests may try to get time off, sometimes it just isn't possible. You may want to consider hosting your wedding in the evening so that those people who may not have been able to come during the day may have a better chance of being there.
- Run with the Valentine theme: What's the point of hosting a wedding on Valentine's Day if you don't embrace the theme of romance and love? Roses are the flower of choice for a Valentine's Day wedding--red or pink will further your theme, along with chocolate hearts wrapped in red or pink foil for your guests. Start the theme with your invitations, which could be adorned with a calligraphy heart encircling both of your names and further adorned with a thin ribbon in a theme color. It can be easy to go over the top with the theme of romance and love, so remember to keep it simple and elegant to leave a lasting impression for the right reasons.
- Make your ceremony classy and romantic: Try not to go over the top and drape everything in rose petals, large red bows everywhere or cardboard hearts. A romantic touch could include a string quartet or harpist, elegant red or pink bows on white chairs and white petals on a red carpet. You may like to acknowledge other married couples and allow them to receive a special Valentine's Day blessing during your ceremony.
Hopefully these tips will get you thinking about how to plan and prepare your Valentine's Day wedding and make it a very special day to remember.
Quick Tips:
Try not to get too carried away and go over the top with the Valentine's Day theme. Keep it simple and classy.
