Having a baby is truly a life defining experience. The news of having your own little angel soon is truly a cause for joy and excitement. Most soon-to-be dads would definitely want to inform their parents and the rest of the family as soon as the news comes out.

Parents always come first. It will make them feel proud that they are soon-to-be grandparents. You'll be surprised that they can be more excited than you are.

One way to do the announcement to your family is to invite them to a simple dinner without telling them what the occasion is for. If this is not possible, instead of just picking up the phone, why not tickle your creative juices and craft a post card to announce this marvelous episode in your life. 

The pregnancy will last about 38 to 40 weeks, it is best to wait for the third trimester to formally announce the great news to the world. Oh, I know you're too anxious to do it! You may, if you want, but after the third trimester the chances of having a miscarriage is lessened.

After that critical stage, you can go ahead with your plans of announcement. You can tell everybody about the good news and here are some suggestions:

  • Have cocktails with your best buddies and your wife's closest friends. It's not every day that you have such a momentous event, go ahead drink and be merry! Just make sure the wife do not gulp up any alcohol, it's not good for the baby.
  • You can have a personalized T-shirt printed for you and your wife and wear it to one of your social events. I'm sure your friends will notice this and without even uttering a word, you have already done the announcement.
  • Personalized candy bars are available for custom printing. It's a great way to give out to your office mates, friends and even relatives.
  • Social Networking tools - with the increasing number of social networking tools in the web. It is easier to get in touch with your friends especially those that reside in other countries. There are a lot of choices like Face book, Multiply, MySpace, Friendster, etc. Here you can post pictures and videos announcing that you're soon to be a dad!
  • Blog about it! It's so easy to create a new home online for free. Journal your anticipation on line. Who knows? Maybe soon-to-be dads can learn a thing or two from you.
