So, you love to knit and would like to make new friends. Perhaps you would like to start a knitting group so that you can get together with new friends and knit, chat, and talk about different patterns and techniques. There are several ways that you can go about starting a knitting group. It's recommended that you try a few of these ways.
- First, you can check with your family and friends to see if they would be interested in joining a knitting group. Perhaps you already know some people who like to knit. You may even be able to recruit a few beginners.
- Whether you have some people that are interested or not from your family and friends, ask them if they know anyone who likes to knit and would like to join a knitting group.
- Come up with a catchy name for your knitting group to attract people. This will get their attention for Step #4.
- Advertise your desire to start a knitting group at local places such as your neighborhood grocery store, the library, or any craft stores in your area. Post your phone number for interested parties to contact you.
- When you have established a few people to start your knitting group, determine how often you and the rest of your group will meet. Will it be once a week, twice a month, or once a month?
- After you determine how often your new knitting group will meet, you will need to determine a location. Will it always be at your house, or will you rotate the hosting duties each time you and your knitting group meet?
- Keep communications open in your community so that you can have a possibility of your knitting group growing and adding new people.
- Encourage the people in your new knitting group to tell their friends and family. You can even have a little newsletter with honorable mentions in it for members who successfully recruit new people into your knitting group.
- Most importantly, have fun knitting, trying new knitting patterns and techniques, and making new friends.
