How To Start a Successful Dating Relationship

Everyone wants to find the one. Whether you're still looking for that special someone or you think you've already found him or her, it's always important to remember some basic do's and don'ts, which will help you become successful in dating. Here are some tips.

  • Have fun. The first and probably the most important thing that people forget is to have fun during their dates. Most people feel giddy or nervous especially on their first date with someone they really like. It is normal to feel anxious while getting to know someone new. However, this may hinder the date from flowing naturally. Relax. Your date is probably as nervous as you are. The important thing is to not let it show. Laugh; this will help take away the tension. Let him or her enjoy your company, and for sure, you will have more dates to come.
  • Look your best.  Nothing attracts people more than looking good. You don't have to look like the glamorous stars on TV, but looking your best will definitely attract more people to you. Not only dating-wise, but also in all aspects of your life. Most couples, especially married ones, let go of their looks after they get together. This is the most common reason why someone attached gets tempted to cheat. Take care of yourself; people will see that and would want to be around you.
  • Be nice. Being rude or disrespectful won't get you anywhere. Even if you look like a movie star, people get turned off by someone who has no respect for others. If something is bothering you about your date, tell him or her nicely. Say it with a smile but still show that you're serious. Don't humiliate the person and try as much as possible not to hurt his or her feelings. Likewise, give compliments. Nothing feels better than being appreciated. Don't overdo it or it will sound like you're just faking it. Say enough to know that you notice the good things about the person and they will keep coming back for more of you.
  • Keep it real. You want to impress him or her, but sometimes overdoing it can backfire. You may come off as arrogant or self-absorbed. Most people can see through this kind of act. Acting like someone you're not in hopes of attracting the one will not help in the long run. You want your partner to fall in love with the real you, not someone you're trying to be. If he or she does not find the real you attractive, then that person is not the one for you.
  • Communicate. Last thing to remember is to communicate with your partner. By communicate, this means sharing and listening. Getting to know someone is an exciting process, and it should not end there. There are always new things to learn about your partner, whether the two of you have just started dating, or have been together for quite a while. It is important to always be honest. Nothing destroys a relationship more than lies. Trust may be easy to give out, but once it shattered, it's hard to gain back.

Remember these tips, and your dating life will surely go uphill. If your date does not go successfully, don't lose hope. Dating should be fun. Think about it this way: it's their loss, not yours. Always think positively.  Don't go into a date, thinking it will fail, because it will surely fail if you do. Have fun dating. Good luck.
