Like many women, you may be stuck in a makeup routine rut. You wake up an hour or two before work or something important and apply your makeup with a careful hand. Eye liner, mascara, eye shadow, every day the same. Wouldn't it be nice to wake up and have it done already? With advanced procedures of permanent eye makeup, you, too, can wake up as a beauty queen.
- It is important to do a lot of research before you have something this drastic done. Getting permanent eye makeup, also known as micropigmentation, applied is not like a hair cut--things will not go back to how they were in a couple of months. There are three different treatments you can get done to your eye. You can get permanent eye liner, permanent eyebrow penciling, and also have your eye lashes dyed permanently. Although it is called permanent eye makeup, the makeup lasts anywhere from four to ten years. So you will not be stuck with your look until you die, but it is still a long time to have a look you don't like. I suggest finding women online, on message boards or chats, who have had a permanent eye makeup procedure done. They will be able to describe their experiences to you first-hand and may recommend good places to go.
- Once you have found what looks like a reliable place to have permanent eye makeup done, call to schedule an in-office consultation. You can get referrals from friends or a trusted dermatologist or you can look online or in the phone book. Meeting with the person who will do your makeup will put your mind at ease and allow you to ask any questions.
- The next step is to go in on your scheduled day without any makeup on. The length of the procedure depends on the size of the area you are getting done. Typically, eyeliner takes two hours. Before the treatment starts, a topical anesthesia is applied to reduce some of the pain. You may feel a bit of discomfort.
- After your eye makeup is placed on, do not freak out when you see yourself in the mirror. Initially, the eye makeup will be really dark. This then fades to your desired color in a couple of days. Your eyes will probably be swollen and red. It is a good idea to take a cold shower or apply a cold press on them when you get home. You should be able to go back to your normal activities in a day. It is encouraged to wear sunglasses when in the sun to discourage fading.
Now you, too, can enjoy waking up beautiful.

Great tips! Doesn't the black liner tend to turn bluish over time? And does the brown turn reddish? A cosmetologist told me this, so I'm wary. Any suggestions on this?
