How To Tie a Clip On Bow Tie

Ever put on one of those clip on bow ties to a fancy event? While you swagger around with unmatched confidence, the sham of a tie snags on the buttons they put on those blasted coat sleeves and gets undone. People look at you with such horror as though you have just committed a heinous crime beyond any reprieve. Running for cover, wounded and beaten, you vow this horrible event will never happen again as long as you live. As God is your witness, you WILL learn to tie a real bow tie.

How To Outdo Others in the Competitive Art of Gift-Giving this Holiday Season

Yes, this season is about giving…in theory. But why not be the best gift-giver you can possibly be? More importantly, why not shamelessly and effortlessly defeat your competition?

THE CAST

The GIFT GIVER: Played by none other than YOU

The GIFTEE (otherwise known as the Gift Receiver): Lover, person you want to be your lover, co-worker, family member, fiancé, husband, wife, person you know is going to get you a gift and you will feel like crap if you don’t give him one

The GIFTROBBERS (people who want to outdo you in the gift-giving process.): These people may include jealous family members, wannabe lovers of the GIFTEE, passive aggressive relatives, a person who likes to throw money around to hide his glaring flaws, etc.

How To Stencil a Small Number of T-Shirts Yourself

Okay so why should you take my advice?

Well, let me start off by introducing myself, my name is Chantelle and I started a t-shirt company called Wear Me Naked three years ago. We specialize in hand painted, hand stenciled, hand stitched and silk screened t-shirts. Besides giving our t-shirts a good hand job (sorry I couldn't resist) as opposed to having machines printing up shirts for us, we hire artists to take their place. We really are about as couture as a t-shirt gets. When I started in 2004 I was mostly using stencils, over the years we have graduated to silk screening and other methods.

How To Work with an Embroiderer

The service industry is so widely varied and too numerous to even list, yet it may well be the most important industry in our daily lives. These are the people you come in contact with every day. It might be the coffee served to you by a smiling wait-staff person. Or the gas attendant that goes the extra step by genuinely wishing you a happy day. Think about the check-out person that double-checks the price of an item to help you save.

Maybe you only see a person once, or maybe you do so every day -- and you might even get to know them as friends. They are there helping to make your day go smoother, to assist you in completing a task you may have been employed to handle, or even the one person that puts a smile on your face that day.

How To Choose a Men's Dress Shirt

Many men wear ill-fitting clothes all the time. It is often not the clothes themselves, but rather the fit of them that determines whether or not they look good. You probably are used to just buying shirts by chest size -- S, M, L, XL, etc. But when buying a dress shirt you must also pay attention to the size of the neck opening, the length of the arms and the broadness of the shoulders. Never wear a poorly fitted shirt again.

How To Define a Personal Brand

We're all familiar with the concept of branding. Think Kate Spade, Martha Stewart, Oprah - these are all individuals who created entire businesses around their own successful self-branding.

How To Wear the Right Jeans for Any Occasion

If you are like most men, you probably have a few pairs of jeans in your closet that you've broken in just the way you like them. The denim feels nice and soft from so much wear. But while you love your jeans, you aren't always sure when it is appropriate to wear them or what to pair them with. A lot to depends on where you are going and what the occasion is. Here are some guidelines on how to wear the right jeans for any occasion:

All jeans are not created equal. There are very casual jeans and then dressier pairs. Make sure you have some of both in your closet. Casual jeans may be more faded or distressed. Darker, well-cut jeans are better for nicer occasions.

Remember that jeans alone don't make the outfit. What you pair your jeans will either take your outfit up a notch or establish it as undeniably casual.
How To Find a Custom Tailor

If you invest a great deal of money in your suits, you may want to consider having one custom made for you instead of buying one right off of the rack. Custom-made suits are designed to fit your specific measurements. You select the fabric, cut and details you want and the custom tailor works with you to design a suit that perfectly fits your body, your personality and your taste. While you can expect to spend more for a custom-made suit than a ready-to-wear option, and can also expect to make much more of a time investment working with the tailor, the end result will be well worth it. Custom-made suits have impeccable details, feel great to wear and are made to last a very long time. If you are considering having a suit made for you, here are suggestions to help you find a custom tailor in your area who is up to the challenge:

How To Buy, Clean and Care for Men's Suits

Put on a good suit and you will look and feel good instantly. A suit is one of the most classic and essential pieces of any man's wardrobe. Whether you work in a corporate environment that requires you to wear a suit every day or only wear a suit a few times a year for special occasions, buying a suit is an investment and one that you should take seriously. Here are some things to think about when it comes to selecting and caring for a suit:

Buying a Suit

Determine how often--and when--you will wear the suit. If you wear suits every day, do an inventory of what is already in your closet, so you can determine what else you need.

How To Tie a Tie

Okay..... it's a miracle......you've managed to get an interview for that job you just know will jump-start your career. Step one is to dress appropriately; a coat and tie are a must (pants, shoes, shirt and socks, too, of course). Wearing a tie won't prevent you from imploding once you begin to speak, but at least you'll get off on the right foot.

Unfortunately, the trend to more "business casual" attire has produced a generation of young men who have no clue how to tie a necktie. This article will address this cultural void.

Please note, if your style is more "clip-on" or "cowboy" string tie, read no further. You have bigger problems than this article can resolve. The instructions below are for the GQ wannabe with the desire and manual dexterity to make a fashion statement.
