Getting your body pierced is never an easy decision. Body piercing is a form of body modification that involves puncturing or cutting of a person’s skin, thereby creating an opening in which jewelry or things that can fit in there. People have different reasons for having their body pierced. Some do it to show off their brand new pearl or diamond earrings, others do it because of their lifestyle. Whatever the reason may be, a person has to have a good reason to have his body pierced.
Body piercing has been around since time immemorial. It was intended to make the person look fearsome, victorious, or beautiful. These days, body piercing is solely about fashion or how it looks on the person. Some people choose to be more extreme and pierce other parts of their bodies like the nose, mouth, eyebrows, nipples and even their own genitalia. Wherever people want to have their body pierced, these people have enough motivation to endure the pain associated with body piercing.
Now if you do decide that you want to have your body pierced, you really have to think things through. First, decide where you want to have your body pierced. The common areas to have piercing are the ears; but this doesn’t mean that you only have your ears pierced. Go with what you want to do and what you think will fit your image and personality perfectly.
After deciding where you want to have your piercing, decide what you are going to put in there. From a simple earring, to a nose ring, or a belly ring, there are many to choose from. Think of what you want and what you feel like putting in there. Understand that what you put in should suit your personal taste. If you like diamonds and pearls you won’t stick a wooden cork inside the piercing like many rockers out there, you would opt for a studded earring instead.
Now that you know where you want it and what you want to put in it, it is time to get that piercing. The most important thing here is to choose the best place to get a piercing, meaning that the person who does it is an expert and he keeps his shop and materials nice and clean. The last thing you want is a rusty needle piercing your skin. Good places usually mean that you would have to pay a hefty sum to get your piercing, but it does ensure you that the people take their work seriously and they keep their place and materials nice, sterile and clean.
After getting your piercing, you should understand the ramifications that go with it. Some offices don’t permit extreme piercing, such as on the lips, tongue or eyebrow. Be sure that you can take them off if you are meeting with a client. Also, you have to understand that piercings may leave permanent scars, so you have to live with that consequence.
Before jumping on this fashion bandwagon, you should understand what you are getting into. There should be no room for doubts and second thoughts because like a tattoo, this is a permanent mark on your body, and it should be a big deal because you are giving up a piece of yourself for what you want.
