Find the Right Type of Pocket Watch

A pocket watch is a kind of device used to measure time. In history, time was only calculated from the Earth's revolution around the sun. People could only tell whether it was night or day. In 3500 B.C., in Egyptian times, the sundial was made. As time went by, people found their means of knowing the exact time around the world. Eventually, the watch was made, and one of the most famous was the pocket watch. It was commonly used in the ancient times when people were only starting to discover other countries by traveling from ocean to ocean. Many people still use pocket watches. A pocket watch is often attached to a chain. Sometimes it is used as a necklace pendant.

There are different types of pocket watches that are available in the market. These are the following:

1. Chain Watch - It is the type of pocket watch usually seen attached on a man's vest or pocket. The ribbon or the chain attached on the pocket watch prevents it from falling on the ground. This is also to prevent the watch from being misplaced.
2. Gold Watch - A gold watch is distinctively more just like the other watches. The only thing that differentiates it from the others is that it is made of gold. Pirates usually had this type of watch because they were treasure hunters. These gold watches were expensive and were especially designed to attract royal families, especially kings and queens who were also traders in ancient times.
3. Digital Watch - A digital watch is more like what we call "watch of the modern times." It provides accuracy and can also be created in many forms. It can have a tracking device which allows you to track a person. Some can even tell the temperature of the room you are in, while there are some that have built-in radios. With the improvement of technology, the capabilities of mobile phones can now be seen in digital watches.
4. Citizen Watch - The Citizen watch originated from trading pocket watches in 1918. Japan, having a global corporation of watches, maintains the watch's durability and excellence in telling accurate time all over the world.
5. Swiss Army Watch - A Swiss army watch is the type of watch that is especially made for men in the army. They started to market this type of watch when they found out that the elegance and the durability of the watch were tested. The company who once was only supplying army people through the years produces large numbers of watches. It forms new designs that will make people, usually men, like it. They have tried to change its size and analyze its parts in order for them to come up with new ideas and then sell it to the market worldwide.

The disadvantage of a pocket watch is the manner of looking at the time. Soldiers in the battlefield find it inconvenient pulling out the watch from their pockets and looking at it. This is why wristwatches for men came into existence.
