Many of us just don't have time for shopping. The Internet provides an easy and convenient alternative, with most major retailers now selling online as well in their stores. But how can you buy clothing without trying it on? There are a few tips that you need to be aware of that will make buying clothes online safe and effective!
- Research. There are customer reviews for almost every online shop on the Internet. Before you buy from an online retailer, check these reviews. Are they generally positive? Do the customers have anything to say about quality, delivery time, or customer service?
- Check for bargains. The same item of clothing might be available at multiple sites for different prices. Even if the prices are the same, shipping costs may vary. Check for sales, coupons and discount codes. The Internet makes these searches easy!
- Check eBay. eBay or any other auction site, is a great place to experiment with new brands and styles. Secondhand clothing doesn't cost much, and you can find specific brands or items, often in new or like-new condition.
- Develop brand loyalty. If you find clothes that fit you well, that are flattering to your body, or that are consistently of good quality, keep shopping at that online retailer! In addition, if the customer service is extraordinary, make a note of it and go back. In this case, you can't get too much of a good thing.
- Pay attention to size charts. Most online retailers have size charts so you can double-check your size. Sizes may differ from one brand to another, so this is important. Also, check the material and if it will shrink when washed. Some retailers may have shoe size charts as well.
- Check the return policy. Because you can never be positive if clothes bought online will fit or not, make sure that the retailer will take returns. Many online stores will not charge for shipping if you are exchanging clothing for a different size, so you should ask about the store's policy.
- Determine customer service details. Check the retailer's website to see how easy it is to contact customer service. Do they have a toll-free telephone number, and if so, what are the hours? Can you email customer service? Do they have an agent ready to chat with you online if you need help?
Of course, buying clothing online is not the same experience as going into a store and trying things on. Some people prefer it and some don't like it at all. For those who are busy though, shopping online can be a real time and sanity saver!
