If you really want to make your eyes stand out, then don't forget to give your lashes the attention they deserve. These tips on how to curl and lengthen your lashes will improve your appearance in only a few minutes.
Remove any remaining makeup from your eyes. Before you can begin to curl and lengthen you lashes, you need to start with a blank slate. You can't use an eyelash curler if there is any mascara on your lashes. (This means no re-curling throughout the day, ladies!) This can cause your lashes to break off! Use eye makeup remover to properly clean your eyes. Then you're ready to begin working on your lashes.
Curl your lashes first. Once your lashes are clean and free from mascara, you can begin to curl them. Use your hair dryer to heat the curler for at least 30 seconds. Once it's hot, place the eyelash curler up to your eyelash, with the eyelash between the two clamps of the curler. Hold the curler as close to the base of your eyelash as possible and then clamp down. Hold the eyelash curler in place for 20 seconds, and then release. If you've properly placed the eyelash curler at the base of your eyelash, your lashes should look curled. Repeat this for both eyes. (It's not necessary to re-curl lashes for a curlier look. Once is as effective as you can be.)
Apply mascara. When you have curled your eyelashes, you can then work to lengthen them. This is done by using lengthening mascara. Just about any brand of mascara from your drug store will work, so choose your favorite brand of mascara. Just be sure that it claims to have lengthening qualities. The more length it claims to give, the better the mascara will be! Remove the mascara applicator from the tub and drag it along your top eyelash, working from the base outward and wiggling the applicator slightly as you go. Repeat this for the top and bottom lash on both eyes. Don't apply too much mascara or your eyelashes will start to clump together. One application of mascara is all you need to lengthen them, as long as you're using the right mascara.
Separate and define your lashes to complete your look. After you have finishing curling and lengthening your lashes, check to make sure they look perfect. Separate any lashes that have clumped together using a clean mascara brush. (You can clean it by wiping off mascara using a tissue.) Remove any clumps. Your eyelashes will hold their curl and length all day!
