How To Dress for a Casual Night Out

In order to successfully dress for a casual night out, one must achieve the correct balance between comfort and style.  Always opt for figure flattering garments with unique details that command attention in a positive manner.

During months with colder weather, dark wash denim serves as a comfortable option that doesn't sacrifice style; choose skinny leg jeans for a trendy look or wide leg jeans for classic elegance.  Opt for a simple top with a pretty neckline that frames and draws attention to the face.  Look for tops in rich colors with embellishments such as sequins, beading, or metallic to add glamour.  Layer the top with a fitted blazer or cardigan sweater and add a pair of heels, ballet flats, or boots to complete the look.

During months with warmer weather, brightly colored sundresses serve as an excellent option because they are fashionable yet easy to wear.  A knee-length skirt paired with a tank top also creates the same effect.  Look for garments with floral or striped patterns in lightweight materials such as cotton, linen, or silk.  Complete the look with a pair of strappy sandals or espadrille wedges.

It is important to add accessories in order to create a polished and sophisticated appearance.  Long beaded necklaces, stacked bangle bracelets, and multiple rings contribute to a bohemian, artsy look, while studded earrings and simple necklaces in materials such as sterling silver or pearl complement a conservative look.  Choose a scarf in the same color palette as the rest of the outfit to draw attention to the face or consider a high-waisted belt to accentuate the narrowest part of the figure. Clutches and wristlets are great handbag options because they can hold all the necessities for a night out without competing with the outfit.

When applying makeup, use eyeliner, smoky-colored shadows, and mascara to add drama to the eyes.  Bronzer can provide the skin with a healthy glow and shiny lip gloss will accentuate the mouth.  Also consider adding a headband or simple clip to achieve a unique hairstyle.  Try pulling hair back into a sleek low ponytail or wearing it down with wavy curls for a casual look.

When dressing for a casual night out, it is important to take the weather and certain conditions into consideration to ensure comfort.  Layer tops or bring along a sweater to maintain comfort in restaurants or bars with air conditioning or heat.  Wear comfortable shoes if participating in activities which involve a significant amount of walking, such as shopping.

Creating a comfortable yet fashionable look will always lead to success when dressing for a casual night out.
