How To Extract Whiteheads and Blackheads Properly

Blackheads and whiteheads are common problems of teenagers and they can be present in all skin types. These skin problems usually occur around the facial area. These are the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Blackheads occur when there is sebum that forms in the ducts or the sebaceous glands. They are formed when the skin pores become clogged with dead skin cells and sebum. Meanwhile, whiteheads are tiny, pearl like spots that occur because of the over secretion of sebum oil. They occur as tiny white spots around the eyes. In extracting these skin nightmares, it is important to know that the basic premise here is that you have cleansed the skin well to begin with. A clean skin is a must. Otherwise, you will just aggravate the condition of the skin.

In order to minimize blackheads and whiteheads, you need to cleanse your skin really well. You need to wash your face with oil or alcohol-free formulas. You need to prepare your skin well so that that dirt all comes out with ease. Exfoliation encourages a good clear skin because it will diminish the blemishes. You can prepare a small pail of boiling water and just cover your head with a towel. The heat will soften the skin pores and make your face ready for a good facial. You also need a small lamp and a good clear mirror. That is about the only materials you need for this—plus a good amount of common sense. Some mix 2 tablespoons of oatmeal with one tablespoon of honey. This is mixed well and applied to the clean face. You can then leave it on your face for 20 minutes. Then you can wash it off with lukewarm water. This procedure helps eliminate debris from collecting in the pores.

First, you need to wrap your fingernails with some clean tissue. That ensures that you do not damage you skin with the sharpness of your nails. Then you position the blackhead or whitehead in between your nails and apply pressure on the skin surrounding it. If it is ready to be extracted, it will usually just come off easily. But if it is still hard, then you just have to pass that off and go to the next one. The tissue around your nails also catches the dirt that comes out so that serves a double purpose too. You can also use lancets for cystic acne. These would be a big help because it already creates a canal for the infected dirt to come out. You need not use your nails, which can be quite crude at times. Lancets easily get contaminated so you must not use them twice and just discard it after use--unless it is made of a material that you can clean and boil for sanitation.

So, you see, you need not go to the parlor to have a good facial. You can do it as well as they do it and still not spend anything. The key is in the cleanliness that you have to exercise while doing the cleansing. The cleaner the surrounding areas, the better. You get a fresh squeaky, clean feeling anytime you feel like doing so because you know the basic rudiments of extracting blackheads and whiteheads.
