Pimples always seem to appear at the least convenient moment whether you have a photo planned, a big date or a job interview. It may be tempting to attack the pimple with a vengeance to get it to just go away. Instead you should follow these steps and have a little patience. That's the best way to can get rid of a pimple.
Here's what you'll need:
- Mild, medicated face soap
- Warm water
- Clean facial cleansing cloth
- Acne treatment cream
- Moisturizer
Steps:
- Keep face clean. Wash your face using warm water twice a day. Choose a mild soap that is made to complement your skin type.
- Don't touch face with bare hands. It may be easier to wash your face with your fingers but unless your hands are sterilized you run a high risk of contaminating your face further with dirt and bacteria from your hands. Consider using a facial cleansing cloth. Choose a disposable brand such as Biore, Noxzema, Dove or Oil of Olay. Some cloths come with soap built in.
- Lightly wash face and neck with the cloth. Use a circular motion to rub the cloth over your face. Make sure that you cleanse the area of the pimple but don't scrub hard in that area.
- Allow your face to air dry. You may want to use a towel to pat your face but air drying helps your skin absorb some of the moisture as it dries.
- Apply acne treatment cream onto the pimple. There are several options for acne treatment cream but the most effective will contain either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Lightly dab the cream onto your skin to cover the pimple. This treatment will help dry the oils and break up the dirt and bacteria forming under your skin. Allow the cream to dry before moving on to the next step.
- Apply moisturizer. When your face is dry your skin combats the dryness by creating more oil to protect your face. By keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated you will be able to stop this process and have fewer breakups in the future.
Finding a pimple popping up on your face can be a drag but before you start poking and prodding at it and making it worse, stop and take a look at these steps. By following them you can get rid of the pimple within a few days without causing infection, scarring or more problems with your skin.
Tips:
- Don't pick at your face.
- Don't stare at your complexion in a mirror for hours.
- Remember to moisturize and use sunscreen.
- On a budget, consider trying baby wipes for a cost effective alternative to disposable cleansing cloths.
